Jail Library Project and Kids' Connection
Since 1992, UW-Madison faculty, staff and students at the School of Library and Information Studies have provided educational and recreational reading materials to Dane County Jail inmates. Kids' Connection links custodial parents with their children through books selected and recorded by parents for their children with the help of this group. The project, through which the Jail Library Student Group partners with the Dane County Sheriff's Office and the Dane County Library Service, depends on wide community support for donated materials and to maintain enough volunteers. See the website for more information on how to get involved.
