Grandparents University
Grandparents University® (GPU) is an award-winning program hosted by the Wisconsin Alumni Association every July on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. At GPU, grandparents and their grandchildren take part in the Badger experience complete with staying in a campus residence hall, touring campus, going to class, participating in engaging and hands-on activities, and earning a GPU “degree.” Annually, over 1,400 grandparents and grandchildren (ages 7-14) attend GPU during the three sessions. A total of 25 different majors (approximately 15 per session) from a cross-section of campus are offered throughout the program, from Physics and Limnology to Veterinary Medicine and Astronomy.
Outcomes
Participants will learn from their major, experience the UW-Madison campus, and enhance the grandparent-grandchild relationship through shared learning activities.
