Focus
For more than 35 years, the Institute for Research on Poverty’s flagship publication, Focus, has disseminated poverty-related research findings and their policy implications in nontechnical language to a broad audience of social science educators, students, legislators, officials and practitioners affiliated with governmental and nongovernmental antipoverty programs, the media, and the general public.
Outcomes
Since 1976, the Institute has published around 90 issues of Focus, which is widely regarded as a top source of nontechnical articles that present the latest poverty research findings. Focus is published electronically, and all issues are available as PDF files on IRP's Web site. Since 2011, each issue includes Focus+, a classroom-oriented supplement with links to related readings and videos. IRP annually grants numerous permissions requests to instructors using articles in their classrooms, and to publishers of monographs and textbooks.
