NIATx
NIATx (pronounced NIGH-a-tex) is a learning collaborative within UW-Madison's Center for Health Enhancement Systems Studies. NIATx promotes use of a simple process improvement model, originally developed by Director David Gustafson to help addiction treatment agencies get more people into treatment. This model is quality-driven, customer-centered, and outcome-focused, and has proven effective in transforming treatment organizations' business practices and the quality of care their clients receive.
Outcomes
NIATx started in 2003 with funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. It began as a demonstration project with 13 substance abuse treatment provider organizations that aimed to improve access to and retention in substance abuse treatment. Today, NIATx tools and practices are used by more than 3,000 behavioral health organizations across the United States. Through its multiple initiatives, NIATx has become on of the top resources for systems and process improvement for behavioral health services.
