The Wisconsin Idea in Action

World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment Consortium (WIDA)

WIDA is a consortium of 36 states/territories dedicated to the design and implementation of high standards and equitable educational opportunities for English language learners. The state of Wisconsin is a founding member. WIDA has developed English language proficiency standards and a companion assessment, as well as a set of Spanish language arts standards and a system of parallel assessments for beginning English language learners. Research and professional development activities complement WIDA's standards and assessment products. WIDA also serves International Schools. The WIDA International Schools Consortium, which is managed by WCEPS, is a network of international schools that use WIDA's research-based standards and assessments.
